God desires an intimate relationship with us, He wants us to grow more on His love and He wants us to bear much fruit. The problem however is most Christians settle on being less than being more of what God has desired for us. Thus, we can be withering branches on a vine.
God wants to show us good and marvelous things so He disciplines those who disobeys; shapes those who needs molding; prunes those who aren’t bearing much fruit and abides to those who are faithful.
Passage 1 (John 15:2)
God loves us. He doesn’t want us lost, spiteful and wasted. As Christians, we are expected to bear the fruit of the Spirit because no believer continues to be unfruitful. However, if we insist to be fruitless, God interferes.
The Pitfall
Sin makes us ineffective (Romans 6:21). It keeps us away from God’s protection and blessings. Hence, it makes us vulnerable to temptation which hinders our productiveness (Matthew 13:22). Nonetheless, God is faithful. He intervenes regularly to stimulate us to bear fruit and He gets involved with us making fruitfulness our ongoing choice.
Principles
God lifts us up when we are not bearing fruit (Matthew 14:20). He seeks to restore every believer continually, disciplining each of us to be abundant. As a kind and loving Father (Hebrews 12:8), everything He does is for our own sacredness and earnings (Hebrews 12:10).
When we are lost, He rebukes us; if we insist on doing things our way, He chastens us; and when we become calloused to His calling, He scourges us (Hebrews 12:5-6).
Conclusion
God’s light to heavy discipline may be painful but it aids to realize our mistakes, making us understand our purpose in life. We are His beloved and He expects us to bear good fruits. Thereby, our fruit must produce the golly of love for the purpose of bringing souls to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
God is faithful and just. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). Therefore, we must abide in Him because our path will always lead to destruction but His ways to life and righteousness. We must always remember that religion cannot change our life but a heart set right with Jesus changes everything.
