Passing on a Godly Legacy: Time is of the Essence!

If our hearts are set right on what is good, our desire to share comes out genuinely. But as true followers of Christ, how do we influence others and pass on a godly wisdom to our fellowmen and when is the best time do it?

Nonetheless, let’s consider these four simple questions as we take a step closer to Christ-likeness:

How will you pass it on? (2 Timothy 2:2 & Matthew 28:19-20)

Many times we seek for counsel and receive either godly wisdom or sarcasm. Moreover, which would you prefer? On the contrary, if you were the one giving the advice, how will you offer comfort to the one who needs it?

Sometimes, we fail to realize that genuine relationship with Jesus Christ is a big factor in passing on godly wisdom to other people. God needs faithful men in His army. We are called to be His witnesses, we are light and salt of the earth and most importantly, our actions reveal what we truly are inside. If we are to brag the redeeming power of Christ, we must reflect a light that shows genuine love from our Father to our fellowmen.

In addition, we must teach faithful men to engage, evangelize (share the gospel), edify, equip and empower them to be likewise, obedient to Christ.

Who will pass it on? (2 Cor. 5:17 & 2 Cor. 5:20)

As a living Bible in this fallen world, it’s easy to be a light to those who are lost if we depend more on God than ourselves. Like soldiers, we must be ready to face unexpected battles; like athletes, we must train our hearts and mind to focus more on the goodness of Christ and like farmers, we must learn to nurture the seeds of faith that God has planted in our hearts.

Believe it or not, we are God’s hands and feet. It is said, “The pastor is not the key to church growth but anyone who is in Christ.” Thereby, as Christ’s ambassadors, we are his emissaries. Not secret agents but appointed children of God that are assigned to spread the good news in behalf of Jesus Christ.

Why do you need to pass it on? (Romans 10:12-13 & Romans 10:14)

If given a task to be the CEO of a well-known company, will you accept the job or ask the question, “Why me”? The question of whether to accept it or not is actually doubt lurking just beneath our hearts. Fear drives us out from God’s glory because we tend to question our worthiness to a certain task.

You see, we are one and the same in the presence of our Heavenly Father. No distinction and no discrimination at all. It is written on Romans 10:13, “Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” Thereby, any man who is in Christ is entitled to a certain mission. This is the great commission. For it is written in Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.”

When will you pass it on? (Psalm 90:12 & 90:10)

Nothing is definite in this life. We all fade like a leaf. Death is certain to come whether we like it or not. Yet blessed are those who are still living, who are in good health and who are blissfully engaged to thrilling activities. Nonetheless, the most intriguing question is--are you ready to die anytime now?

As you look back at your life, as a Christian, have you personally led someone to Christ and did you pass it on properly with proper discretion? To the doubtful, have you accepted Christ in your heart and is He part of your life yet?

Let us cease from procrastination and ask ourselves: “Have we counted each day as precious gift from God, have we spent each day in the presence of the Lord, have we used each day to the glory of God and have we invested time in our loved ones?

The Psalmist wants to teach us two things:

1. He wants us to number our days right, he want us all to realize that someday we will die.

2. He wants us to gain a heart of wisdom; he wants us to have a relationship with Jesus and to spend time on what is important.

The time to act is NOW; not later, not tomorrow, not next week, not next year but now!

So pass on the love and joy of the Lord because it is never too late if you start now!
